Fall Kick-Off 2023

Congratulations on making it through your first week! Come over to Obsidian Hall with your friends to celebrate with desserts, fire pits, and other surprises. Be prepared to be both inside and outside!

Come mingle and connect with peers. Every week we discuss engaging questions over free coffee, tea or hot coco!

Come enjoy some good tea, make new friends, and have some tasty snacks! Bring your favorite mug if you have one!

Get stoked for the first WWW of the season! Whitewater Wednesdays are an existing social event within Bend's paddling community where people can learn basic skills or work on newer ones while meeting new friends! Get amongst!

This year we are doing themes for our WWW. This week's theme is Tutus, so bring your fanciest frills down to the park!
All levels are welcome to join us down at the Bend Whitewater Park between 5-7 PM to paddle class 1-2 rapids or class 2-3 rapids. If you are a super fresh baby duck, we will put you in an inflatable kayak rather than a hard shell. This will allow you to learn the ropes without being separated from the group!

An event for first-year and transfer students to meet faculty, new & current students, and get help setting up your laptop (VERY important for ENGR 100 students!). Receive FREE breakfast, get to know your faculty, learn tips from current students, and figure out how to install any necessary programs on your laptop.

Discover what type of leader you'd be in the wild through this fun and interactive activity. Plus, you'll have a chance to meet other animal leaders and maybe walk away with some animal-tastic swag.

Join the Student Fee Committee to learn about what SFC is all about, how you can get involved and the benefits of utilizing student fees to enhance your college experience.

This session is part 1 of 3 events during Fall Kick-Off in which winners will be selected to win not only cool swag at the events, but the opportunity to be entered into a "build-your-own" prize drawing ($200 value) if you successfully attend each of the three following events:

Visit the Student Government table at the Fall Kick-Off Resource Fair

Join us on the street outside of Tykeson Hall, where we have snacks, games, and prizes! The Campus Community Carnival is a great way to meet various OSU-C affiliates, learn more about your community, and participate in fun carnival-themed games.

Check-in to receive your punch card; two punches and you'll get one free food item, four punches and you'll get both, and six and you'll be entered to win a prize!

We will be featuring Bonta Gelato and Boba Tea Bend this year. Come join us for some fun!

Choose from one of two different mealtimes, 5-7 pm or 7-9 pm. Groups will depart from Bruckner Courtyard and stroll to their food destination!

Restaurant include Bangers and Brews, Chicken Bonz, and Life and Time (check via the web to see links to menus). RSVPs for the event will open on Tuesday, 9/19; check out the locations and make sure to indicate your order (including any adjustments) in your RSVP.

Get a chance to meet with ASCC president Keera Puett and ASCC vice-president Tommy Gonzales. Learn about their priorities for the year, new and existing programs for students, opportunities for student engagement and chances to ask questions.

After this short get together in the dining hall, our student leadership will lead our new students to the class photo.

Convocation means to come together. It is a special tradition at OSU-Cascades, marking the start of a student's academic journey at OSU-Cascades and welcoming them into the community through formal remarks.

News Director, KTVZ
Cathy brings 40 years of experience in broadcast news as a reporter, anchor and news editor to Central Oregon. She has worked as an anchor for CNN and with news stations in Boston, New Haven, Seattle and Portland, Oregon, and as a sideline reporter for Beaver Sports Network.

Nikita Rubocki '22
Software Engineer, Professional Freeskier
An Honors College graduate and Distinguished Student who competed at the Olympic Winter Games tryouts, Nikita demonstrated peer leadership in making technology less intimidating to students from all backgrounds. She was a finalist in the National Center for Women in Information Technology's Collegiate Award for undergraduate research.

Meet your Engagement Ambassador at your designated spot! Groups will receive their game board for the 2023 Sticker Strike. Travel around campus to match stickers to locations; receive an exclusive sticker when you turn your game board in and have a chance to win a bigger prize!

Students will also receive additional swag for the more BBEAVER Meetings they Attend!

Mix and mingle with your peers and our friendly Career Development Center staff... all while enjoying an ice cream sandwich. This mixer is a great opportunity to meet new friends and learn about what services the Career Development Center offers. Don't miss out on this delicious ice cream social!

Meet other students joining OSU-Cascades this fall, learn about campus resources, and hear about the opportunities available as you transition to OSU-Cascades.

Students who RSVP will receive their Fall Kick-Off bag at the dinner check-in. Your RSVP includes requesting accommodation for dietary restriction and additional guests (please complete by 9/18 so we can coordinate with catering) as well as t-shirt size preferences.

Tykeson Hall may host your classes, but for one night we are taking over Tykeson! Join Events Council as we enjoy video games, board games, a movie, and more with new friends!

Parents, families, and students stop by the Beaver Dam for a wonderful brunch made by our amazing dining staff!

Meals will be served here every day during the school year, so say hello to our chefs and staff, who will prepare a special menu for the event.

Students will RSVP for themselves and can register for up to 5 guests. Please visit the check-in table during the event to start.

Students who attend the first BBEAVER meeting will receive their Fall Kick-Off bag including a t-shirt and sunglasses. The more BBEAVER Meetings you attend, the more swag you'll receive!

Join your fellow Bend Beavs in some lawn games!

We will host yoga ball dodgeball, as well as have some Spikeball nets and cornhole to enjoy.

Enjoy some art in Tykeson Hall while watching what's happening out on the lawn!

Bring your favorite beverage with you, and we'll supply the snacks, along with the art supplies. We will have canvases as well as ceramics picked up from Studio Create.

Be sure to label your ceramics with your first and last name - we send them out to get fired and will notify you about pick-up about a week later.

Meet some people and find others who enjoy similar snacks!

OSU Cascades offers a free streaming service (Beaver Movie Streaming) to all students. And what better way to make some friends than by bonding over your favorite films? Come enjoy a movie and make some friends at the Movie and Mixers night!
