Experiential Learning Corner

Get a taste of the various experiential learning opportunities available to students, including internships, research, and job shadows.

This week, we're highlighting the Fisheries and Stream Survey Trainee position with the USDA Forest Service and Discover Your Forest.

The Deschutes & Ochoco National Forests, in partnership with Discover Your Forest are seeking candidates to serve in the Generation Green - 21st Century Conservation Service Program a Fisheries and Stream Survey Trainee for the summer of 2024
  • Age requirement: 18 -30 years and veterans up to 35 years of age
  • Salary: $19.00/ hour
  • Term of Service: 640 hours (~16 weeks)
  • Provide conservation education and exposure to natural resources through mentorship and experiential shadow opportunities.
  • Selectee, based on personal interests, will have additional opportunities to explore other Forest Service specialties.

Cascades Edge Event Specialist
OSU-Cascades in Bend, Oregon

Role Description:
The Cascades Edge Event Specialist is a student employee who will work alongside the Cascades Edge Coordinator to plan and execute engaging career competency events at OSU-Cascades. They will be responsible for the logistics of the event planning process, including scheduling, room selection, furniture configuration, catering, and event technology coordination. Additionally, the Cascades Edge Event Specialist will be involved in event setup, cleanup, and evaluation. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Cascades Edge initiative, promoting student success, and contributing to the overall success of OSU-Cascades.
