Join OSU-Cascades' College of Liberal Arts for an evening of literature, conversation, and community featuring acclaimed Nimi:pu (Nez Perce) writer and scholar Prof. Beth Piatote. The event will take place on Monday, May 19 at 5:30 p.m. in the Ray Hall Atrium, and is free and open to the public.

The evening will begin with a reading from Professor Piatote’s recent creative work, followed by a panel conversation with Dr. Patrizia Zanella and Dr. Jennifer A. Reimer. In our collective conversation, we will touch on Indigenous language revitalization, adaptation of ancient Greek literature, contemporary Indigenous poetry, place-based writing, and the evolving role of Indigenous voices in contemporary literature and scholarship.

The event will feature catered hors d'oeuvres, and preregistration is requested for planning purposes.

This is a unique opportunity for OSU-Cascades students, faculty, and the wider Central Oregon community to engage with leading voices in Indigenous and comparative literary studies in an intimate and welcoming setting.

We invite you to be part of this rich and timely conversation on story, language, and cultural imagination.
