Annual Planning Meeting and Logistics for Learn By Doing

At 1pm on Sunday September 20th, our Learn By Doing event will be held in Prineville at the southern end of Crooked River park. The goal with this outing is to introduce freshmen to the study of insects and members of Think Wild as an organization, and how we can use bugs to monitor the pollinator restoration carried out by them, and other metrics important to natural science majors.

The focus activity will be sweep netting to catch aerial insects over the pollinator restoration area. We will also provide a quick demonstration of aquatic entomology sampling with D-nets and a tub, as well as recreational catching with the aid of a beat-sheet. It should be a great day of Learning (By Doing!) and I'm excited to carry out this bit of outreach.

To that end, I'd like to hammer out the logistics for this expedition, build a list of volunteers, and plan activities for the club this school year in a general meeting. This meeting will be held both on Zoom for those unavailable and in person at the Bend campus in Obsidian at 10am on 9/11/26.
